Two Great Taste Award wins and NEW Christmas ingredients from Ross & Ross Food

Winners from the 2018 Great Taste Awards have been announced and Ross & Ross Food have received stars for two entries. Great Taste is the most acknowledged benchmark for artisan fine food and drink producers. The judging panel in 2018 was made up of 500 judges, who blind tasted a total of 12,634 products, with 37% of entries accredited with stars.
Firstly, their Spicy BBQ Salt received 2 stars. Made with Anglesea Halen Mon Sea Salt that is blended with Chilli, Roasted Garlic and Charcoal Salts. Used as a seasoning or finishing salt and gives an extra kick and barbecue flavour. The judges comments included; “Flavour was superb – well-balanced, clean and with the ingredients in perfect quantity… Has a wonderful minerality. Looks amazing and tastes so natural… A useful cooks’ ingredient for rubs and marinades with a base of good quality sea salt… cleverly crafted to give a wonderful explosion of taste, that would be superb on many different things, particularly white meats or making a butter…”
These 50g jar of salts have a trade price £3, RRP at £4.75 and can be purchased in cases of 6.
Secondly, the team entered some Bacon that they make for private clients and received 1 star. They used streaky Gloucester Old Spot and used the Fennel & Juniper Cure from their new kit.Ross & Ross Food extended their Homemade Bacon Curing Kit range in 2017, and this most recent kit includes this award-winning Fennel & Juniper Cure, a Maple & Chipotle Cure and English Mustard & Pink Peppercorn Cure. The Curing Kit range now includes 4 Bacon kits, 3 Salmon kits and 1 Complete Collection. Looking to Christmas…

After the initial success of their Roast range launch last year, Ross & Ross Food have added further ingredients to help create the tastiest Christmas feasts. The range now includes a Turkey Rub, Roast Beef Rub, Roast Potato Oil, Brussels Sprout Dust, Pigs in Blanket Dust and Roast Ham Glaze, and a BRAND new Roast Chicken Rub and Roast Dinner Dust (Umami seasoning for all-parts of your Sunday roast or Christmas Dinner. Specifically amazing for ‘yorkies’, vegetables and gravy) – all available now and ready for Christmas pre-orders.
 
The individual jars are ideal as stocking fillers or Secret Santa presents but also as festive gifts throughout December. Feedback on these Christmas ingredients has included the winning fragrance of the Brussels Sprout dust that has transformed sprouts, the Pigs dust being perfect for all things pork including pre-Christmas canapes and the Ham glaze being a perfect zesty addition to a boxing day Ham.
