Bacon Sandwich

Did you know, shop bought Bacon has a high content of brine, which is essentially salted water that is pumped into meat, and that’s why you get all the white water in the pan or grill when cooked. The brine increases the weight of the bacon, so what you’re really paying for is mostly water, not meat. Our kit uses a dry cure which means the water naturally occurs in the meat and leaves you with the traditional, delicious Bacon flavours.

The Homemade Curing Kit…Bacon contains:

  • 3 x 30g curing mixes – original, sweet and smoky
  • 3 x curing bags: 30cm (Length) x 20cm (Width)
  • 1 x muslin: 43″ (Length) x 11.5″ (Width)
  • 6 x plastic gloves
  • 1 x butchers hook
  • Easy-to-follow instructions in a handy booklet

Here are some frequently asked questions about our bacon home made curing kit:

Q. How much Pork do I need?
A. You will need 500g Pork Belly for each 30g Curing Mix

Q. Does this Kit Include Pork?
No. You will need to get your Pork from your Local Butcher or Supermarket (List of our recommended Butchers below). We recommend using Pork Belly, but Back bacon will also do the trick.

Q. How long does it take to cure?
A. The whole Bacon Curing process takes 7 days, but only takes 10 minutes of your time rubbing in the cure.

Q. Can I reuse the kit?
A. You can reuse all the contents of the kit, apart from the cures. However we do sell refill packs in our online shop. Click here to take a look.
